A crown that protects the whole tooth.
When a tooth is cracked, worn down, or too damaged for a filling, a crown restores it. Full-coverage porcelain or ceramic crowns fitted to your bite — strong, natural-looking, and made to last.
A crown is a full cap that covers a compromised tooth from every angle. We use it when a tooth has too much damage for a filling — a large crack, a fractured cusp, a tooth that's had a root canal, or a badly worn back tooth.
The process usually takes two visits. On the first, Dr. Blackhurst shapes the tooth and takes an impression, then fits you with a temporary crown. Your permanent crown is fabricated to match your surrounding teeth in color and shape. A couple of weeks later you come back to have it cemented in place.
A well-cared-for crown typically lasts 10 to 15 years or longer — and looks like a natural tooth the entire time.
