For patients who feel anxious about dental work, or for longer procedures, nitrous oxide (sometimes called "laughing gas") is a safe, gentle sedation option available on request.
Nitrous is a mild, safe sedative that helps you feel calm and relaxed during your appointment. You breathe it in through a small nose piece throughout the procedure. You stay awake and can respond to us the whole time — you just don't care nearly as much about what's happening.
One of its biggest advantages: it wears off within minutes of removing the mask. Unlike oral sedation or IV sedation, you can drive yourself home afterward and go straight back to your day.
